Man shot in arm when gun falls in toilet

This story was published 02/10/2005 in the Times of Northwest Indiana.

HOBART | A 45-year-old man was accidentally shot in the arm Wednesday when his pistol fell into a toilet and discharged, police said.
Hobart resident Bryan Scott was taken by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center about 11:45 a.m. after his .44-caliber black-powder handgun fell out of a coat pocket and fired, police Lt. Leo Finnerty said.
"There was a lot of blood on the floor," Finnerty said.
He said it's unknown what the man was doing with the gun in the bathroom in the moments leading up to the shooting, but there are no signs of foul play.
